Giuseppe Aprea is an orchestra conductor, pianist and korrepetitor of the national and international scene.
Graduated with honors and special mention at the “San Pietro a Majella” Music Conservatory of Naples (Italy) as a pianist and accompanist, he persued his music studies at “Giuseppe Verdi” Music Conservatory of Milan (Italy) as symphonic and opera conductor, where he graduates with honors. He also studies the music composition and choir conducting.
Throughout his academic years, he cultivated an intense concert activity as a chamber musician, performing a repertoire that ranged from the classical tradition to contemporary works. He further enriched his artistic training by attending masterclasses with some of the most celebrated conductors of our time, including Riccardo Muti, Gianluigi Gelmetti and Daniele Gatti.
His professional career has taken him to prestigious international festivals and leading Italian opera houses, where he has worked as an orchestral conductor, répétiteur and prompter. Most recently, at the Macerata Opera Festival, he served as Stage Music Director, Assistant Conductor for both operatic and symphonic productions, Head of the House Répétiteurs, and liaison for the Music Archive. A significant part of his artistic journey is linked to the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, where he worked alongside conductors such as Pinchas Steinberg, Dan Ettinger, Marco Armiliato, Riccardo Frizza, Michele Mariotti, Henrik Nánási and Constantin Trinks, and with an extraordinary roster of singers including Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko, Anita Rachvelishvili, Ludovic Tézier, Anna Pirozzi, Nadine Sierra, Javier Camarena, Sondra Radvanovsky, and many others.
In 2015, he made his debut on the podium as conductor, inaugurating a fruitful collaboration with artistic directors, agents, and casting managers on the international opera scene. He has served as assistant to Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Ramón Tebar, Dmitri Jurowsky, Daniele Agiman, Alexander Frey and Dian Chobanov. As a conductor, he has led ensembles including the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano (formerly La Verdi), the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo Bellini of Catania, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana (FORM), the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese (ISA), the Orchestra del Teatro Verdi of Salerno, the resident orchestra of the Plovdiv Opera House, the Orchestra Nazionale Artes of Florence, the OSCoM Orchestra of Milan, the SPAM Orchestra of Naples and others.
As a pianist, he is regularly invited to accompany auditions for internationally renowned artists and institutions, collaborating with figures such as Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren and Bill Schumann. Over the years, his professional collaborations have extended to distinguished singers, coaches and pedagogues—including Renata Scotto, Rolando Panerai, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Alessandro Corbelli, Michael Paul, Glenn Morton, Kamal Khan and Donata D’Annunzio Lombardi—in Europe and the United States. Through this work, he has contributed to opera studios, masterclasses and seminars devoted to vocal technique, operatic interpretation, and the stylistic traditions of the German Lied and French Chanson.
Alongside his activity as conductor and pianist, he works as a composer and arranger. His catalogue includes original works for ballet, fashion shows, and commercial productions, as well as chamber, vocal, choral, and orchestral pieces. His music has been published by Agenda Edizioni Musicali, PM Edizioni, and Il Monocordo Edizioni. He was also a founding member, pianist, and composer of an experimental contemporary piano ensemble, with which he recorded three albums and released five publications.
In addition, drawing from his studies in Psychology, Pedagogy and Anthropology, he also obtained professional certification in the scientific application of music therapy for psychophysical rehabilitation and socio-cultural inclusion.
Currently, he pursues a multifaceted international career as conductor, vocal coach, and pianist, combining a deep respect for the tradition with a keen awareness of contemporary performance practice.
What immediately struck me with Giuseppe is the attention paid to the vocal repertoire. He is a conductor who knows how to work in depth not only on the musical aspect of the score but also on the dramaturgy. Thanks to his preparation and precision, he manages to motivate singers to work on the relationship between the proper meaning of the text and the musical phrase. With his vocal and musical knowledge, he transforms the singer into an interpreter. Such a rarity these days.

A musician gifted with great musical intelligence and incredible sense of theater. He was my assistant for the productions of Cavalleria Rusticana and Suor Angelica in Livorno, in 2019. He was then my student at the Milan Conservatory, where he stood out and was a great asset to the class. He was still my assistant in 2022 for Don Pasquale. Over the years I have been able to appreciate an incredible growth, which has made him a refined and prepared musician. He is a young talent to keep an eye on.
Daniele Agiman
Last year, Giuseppe and I worked on the performance practice, style, phrasing, analysis of the text and its enhancement through the musical sign of various composers including Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini. I greatly appreciated him for his seriousness, preparation, attention to indications and a remarkable musical memory. An excellent impression that will be confirmed, I’m sure, in the very near future
Giuseppe Sabbatini
Following a year-long collaboration with Maestro Aprea I was able to appreciate his total dedication to music. Creativity, passion and discipline blend in his art in perfect harmony. His valuable collaboration in my vocal technique courses enriched our school and his work as orchestra conductor for concerts and productions, in which some of my students took part over the years, was precious. I consider myself lucky to have met him because I strongly believe he’s an excellent musician.
Donata D’Annunzio Lombardi
I knew Giuseppe when he was still a student and I always admired his seriousness and desire to get involved and to learn. Excellent pianist and Korrepetitor, into the music and the dramaturgy. He has a deep feeling with the singers, taking care of the breath, the phrasing and the intentions. I think this is the right way to become a great conductor.
